Invasion of the LIVING DEAD...!!

Lately these days, I encountered topics about Zombies. In my classmate’s house while waiting for our practice, we watched a video showing the attacked of zombies two years ago. That video confused my mind. And one Sunday, in our house, I also watched a program about the Doomsday in 2012, and one possible reason is the invasion of the zombies in our present time. At that point, I began to wonder if zombies at this time really exist and I want to know more about them.

I found out that Zombie is a term used to denote an animated corpse brought back to life by mystical means, such as witchcraft. The term is often figuratively applied to describe a hypnotized person bereft of consciousness and self-awareness, yet ambulant and able to respond to surrounding stimuli. Since the late 19th century, zombies have acquired notable popularity, especially in North American and European folklore.

Zombies have been confused with many other monstrous creatures. Monstrous will try to make a clear distinction between the different entities that proceed from death. To study the zombie as a creature, it is important to understand exactly what a zombie is. First, we need to differentiate between two common terms used for zombies, Undead and Zombie:
Undead is a collective name for fictional, mythological, or legendary beings that are deceased yet behave as if alive. Undead may be incorporeal, such as ghosts, or corporeal, such as vampires and zombies. Undead are featured in the legends of most cultures and in many works of fantasy and horror fiction. While, a zombie is a dead person that is brought back to life through a curse (voodoo) or a mutation and has recovered some vital functions like movement. They are speechless, near-mindless, possessing little reasoning power, though many can perform automatic movement and "remembered behaviors" from their mortal existence.

Where Do Zombies Come From?
There is a great deal of confusion about how one becomes a zombie. The only way to become a zombie is by being bitten by a zombie. Every year, however, thousands of Americans are misdiagnosed as zombies. The Center for Disease Control attributes the majority of these cases to overexposure to infomercials. The Center also states that false-positive zombie reports tend to increase every four years in conjunction with presidential debates.

What Do Zombies Eat?

The primary diet of zombies consists of human brains, although they have been known to feast on other vital organs, especially during holiday seasons when we all tend to overeat. Zombies, whose diet consists primarily of human brains, typically access their victim’s craniums through the nasal cavities, and mummies, after all, are simply zombies with no fashion sense.

True Story:
    • Felicia Felix-Mentor was a Haitian woman believed to have been made into a zombie in the early part of the 20th century.
      • Felicia Felix-Mentor reportedly died in 1907, after a sudden illness of the type that Haitian belief finds to be characteristic of a person marked to be made into a zombie. In 1936 a woman (either nude or in ragged clothing depending on the source) was found wandering the streets, and made her way to a farm which she claimed belonged to her father. The owners identified the woman as Felicia Felix-Mentor, long thought dead, and Felix-Mentor's husband also confirmed this. Due to her poor health, she was sent to a government hospital.

  •      Clairvius Narcisse was a Haitian man who was declared dead on May 2, 1962. His two sisters, Marie Claire and Angelina, buried him in a small cemetery near his hometown. 18 years pass and his family has carried on with their lives. Angelina is in the marketplace of her village when her deceased brother approaches her and introduces himself. How is this possible?

Certain kinds of poisons, like the secretion of a Japanese blowfish, can put someone in a comatose state and make them appear dead even to a doctor. Narcisse had ingested some poison like this and when he slipped into his death-like state was buried. Then someone came and dug him up. Upon awakening he was giving doses of a “zombie powder” which contained the drug Datura stramonium. The drug puts the user in an emotionless, trance-like state, but the user can still perform menial tasks. In Narcisse’s case he was used as slave labor on a sugar plantation. He was a zombie-slave for 18 years.

After I read these information about zombies, I realized that my first perception about them is wrong. I thought zombies are just an invented creature of some playful minds and I thought there are no real zombies. Now, i have enriched my knowledge by making this blog. And now I conclude that at present time, zombies may still exist. So we must be aware...
